WAoS is happy to announce that another school in Switzerland has joined the global AFEC network and welcomes Institut International Lancy from Geneva who have recently successfully attained an AFEC accreditation.
The schools focus is to develop a students full potential and build knowledge and skills that will accompany them throughout their lives in various pathway offerings which includes student-athletes. Students are able to complete studies in French, English or bilingual academic environments. The current accreditation is focused on the English section of the school and was conducted by an experienced assessment team including Philipp Waeffler OLY, Sabine Hazboun OLY and Joslyn Hoyte-Smith OLY. Student-athletes already benefit from bespoke policies and procedures and WAoS looks forward to providing IIL with further opportunities to enhance this built in support.
Sabine Hazboun OLY, who had the opportunity to be part of the on-site assessment team commented on her experience.
'Witnessing the school’s willingness to continue supporting their student-athletes through their programmes and great facilities, with the help of the school’s passionate staff was the highlight of the visit. The WAoS assessment team met with IIL’s student-athletes and staff to discuss further details on how the student-athletes could balance their sport activities and education. Both groups demonstrated how committed and disciplined they were with what they did to ensure a well-balanced routine and a future whether in sports, education or both!'
Monique Roiné, Director General of IIL commented on developing the relationship with WAoS and the AFEC network.
“We are excited about our new partnership with the World Academy of Sport and enjoyed a day of fruitful discussion and self-reflection when we were visited by the assessment team. As an Athlete Friendly Education Centre, we hope to be able to provide the support our student athletes need to manage their sporting and educational commitments, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements.”
The WAoS team congratulates IIL on its recent AFEC accreditation and looks forward to it joining a group of like-minded schools in the AFEC network and working with them to continue to build on many of the already excellent support processes.
